That's what I would try. Also if washing strong colours put a colour catcher into the water and keep the water as cool/cold as you can as hotter water can cause colour runs to happen more quickly.
Please note These are my suggestions NOT recommendations and I accept NO liability whatsoever if you try any of this - it's your risk! Hope it works if you try it.
Best wishes SA@Scarfie1https://www.blogger.com/profile/02766756621527104499noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4814471291716279717.post-85609180391506668832017-10-28T08:28:25.556+01:002017-10-28T08:28:25.556+01:00I tend to sweat a lot, including around the neck a...I tend to sweat a lot, including around the neck and so this leads to sweat/dirty marks around the middle of the scarf. I feel confident hand washing/stain treating for my white Hermes scarf, but for the coloured ones, especially my prized red one, I am more nervous. No boiling water! You wouldn't be...Stop Stop! No boiling water! You wouldn't believe what will get it out! I'm an expert on washing Hermés;)
Need:
--DAWN:the original, blue, plain old Dawn ONLY. (better than Woolite, imo)
--COLOR CATCHERS: imperative, as are all these supplies
--WOOLITE OR RESOLVE CARPET SPOT CLEANER, (liquid not spray, not carpet shampoo!!) you can get the pet kind of carpet spot cleaner too. I know! But it works! Think about this, though, this is for carpet stains, that means wine, coffee, pet stains, everything. And it has to be gentle enough for real wool and silk carpets -- voila!
---
DIRECTIONS:
Spray the entire scarf with the carpet spot cleaner. Wait about 2 mins. Put 2 COLOR CATCHERS in a large bowl of cold water with a slight bit of DAWN already stirred in, then immerse the scarf in the soapy water, up and down several times, squish in your hands, very gently and hardly at all, then if desired, repeat with fresh soapy water as many times as it takes to see results. The water will be nice and clean then. After, while scarf is still very wet, never squeeze or wring, wrap scarf in single layer in a white towel. You can now even drape your scarf for a few mins to dry over an ironing board, with a white towel on it that you have pressed a little. Clean your iron extremely well before you start pressing. Only press to the edges up to the rolled hem. You want to keep them plump. I turn my iron on its side, like a knife edge, and press right up to the hems. Do not use steam ever.
If you need to get out ink, even Sharpie, use pure acetone, unbelievable, I know, but it works, and doesn't disturb the dye of the scarf. I have to do it tonight to my favorite scarf, ouch!
Well, I don't guarantee anything, but this method works flawlessly for me. I have 32 H scarves. This method is so much gentler and better for your scarves than dry cleaning! It's kind of meditative too, relaxing. Also, if you want to starch your scarf, lightly oc, make your own from corn starch and cold water to control the amount of stiffness. Keep the starch in the frig. I hope this helps! Good luck!
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4814471291716279717.post-70690875150027155312017-05-18T00:37:30.162+01:002017-05-18T00:37:30.162+01:00Bought a gorgeous vintage scarf but silly me used ...Bought a gorgeous vintage scarf but silly me used a cheap fabric wash and woolite together and left it soaking for about 10 minutes. It was always fantastic in Italy - I guess, when it was not actually perfect, I enjoyed it for my premade conclude that it had to be fantastic, so I enjoyed it :)
Also, I remember the line for ice cream (waiting time about 20 minutes) in an Italian village in northern Italy...ha, I was driving to that little village each day since June till late September.
