Busy London Trip

As you know I went to London last weekend - I went to see the ballet La Fille Mal Gardee at the Royal Opera House- it was the best performance I have ever seen of that ballet - it was danced by world superstar Carlos Acosta and Marianela Nunez who just have that special spark which can make a ballet.  It was superb!

Marianela Nunez, Jonathan Howells

The next day I woke early which gave me a head start on the day!  So it was off on the bus to Oxford St for a quick pop into M&S......
View of The Strand towards
Trafalgar Square from the bus.

......and then on to Kenny High Street (sorry Kensington High Street!).  There I went to mooch around a super foodie store - Whole Foods.  I first encountered WF in New York near Union Square so I love to visit it when in Kensington.  Anyway there was so much to see in there that I will have to blog about it separately!

After that I wandered back up to Kensington Gardens to visit the newly renovated Kensington Palace.  There were some interesting things on display and I will do another separate blog on the Diana dresses.
The private entrance to the royal accommodation.
The magnificent gates to KP.

William and Kate portrait by Testino in the
foyer (not me in the reflection!)
A Testino portrait of Diana.
HM Queen Victoria's wedding dress.
Stormy skies in the gardens at KP!

The new exterior portico at KP.

Swans on the lake outside KP.

Next I went to the Queen's birthday gun salute at Hyde Park, as I have already blogged, and when that was over I went to Trafalgar Square where there was a lovely celebration for St George's day (the following Monday).
Nelson's Column in Trafalgar Sq.

The square was made over into an English garden and in a special indoor glass house there were some fabulous floral arrangements:-

Any one for tea?!!  What  fabulous clever arrangement
 - now that is what I call calorie free!
No you can't eat them!  How clever!

A floral version of The Gerhkin!

The Dragon - no sign of St George LOL!
Beautiful garden ideas.

Fabulous Foxgloves and Primulas.

There was even a Sherlock Holmes alike man!

I ended the day by checking out The Mall.  Getting ready for
the London Marathon the next day, it looked spectacular decked
out in the Union Jack flags - you can see Buckingham Palace at the end.
really enjoyed my whistle stop tour of London but it made me really tired this week, but no matter I am off on my jaunts again with a trip to Highgrove Gardens, and then I will be going to Berlin for a few a days and Paris just for a day(!) - so things are busy, busy!

  2. I should title my post "thank you for the beauty". Due to my gardening works, I have missed several posts(farmer's life is not easy, LOL)and enjoyed them today. The photos are beautiful, same as the items you bought (will post in the related theme). I envy you for the beauty you have taken photos of! M.
