As a fan of Faberge I absolutely love the 1898 Lily of the Valley Egg which was made as a gift for the Tsarina, Alexandra. I am very lucky to have seen this particular egg twice - once when it was part of the Forbes Collection in New York and once in Brussels in an exhibition after the Forbes Collection had been bought by a Russian billionaire! It is a truly stunning piece of artwork and incredibly beautiful.

I would love to see the eggs again sometime soon and would recommend anyone to see them if they get the chance!
Absolutely amazing, a true masterpiece. Many thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome MaiTai, SA :-)
ReplyDeleteIf you're ever in Richmond VA, you should visit the Lillian Thomas Pratt Collection at the VA Museum of Fine Arts. It's the largest public collection of Faberge outside of Russia. The collection is wonderful and there is going to be some type of new exhibit this summer through October.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Billsburg - I will have to remember that! I love seeing Faberge! Best wishes SA :-)
