La Vie Du Grand Nord

I finally found the coveted colorway #10 of La Vie Du Grand Nord in Berlin on my recent trip.  Thank goodness!  Here are some pics of the new scarf.

The  full picture!

A little more detail.

Worn in a large "Cowboy" knot style.

Here worn wrapped around once and tied with a Half Ascot knot.

Folded on the square rather than bias and draped around the neck
(oops I left the label in my hurry to try it out!!!)

Here I folded on the bias and tied in a single knot leaving one end longer than the other.

With a winter white fur collar.

The Friendship Knot!

Here is a link to my Friendship Knot Video and other instructions which may help you master this super knot!

  1. Love that colorway on you! Your video on tying a Friendship Knot is the easiest method I've come across. Thank you!

  2. Hello! I found your blog today when I googled "scarf ring". I was in Paris over the weekend and bought the first two Hermès scarfes of my life (both 70 x 70 cm). Not sure I dare wear them, but if not, why did I buy them? Also bought Calèche (EDT) and it smells heavenly!

  4. Hello Kicki - welcome to my blog! Your scarves sound lovely - I love the 70cm ones as they are a bit more manageable than the big 90cms! You will be OK after you wear a scarf for the first time, just be careful not to eat anything like greasy fries or foods that stain like tomato sauces and in the wind watch out that the scarf does not flap up and hit any lipstick you may be wearing and cover up the scarf in rain!! The 70cms hand wash really well too, so that is good. Welcome to the "Orange Side" as they say! Best, SA.

  5. Thanks for the advice! I have a question: Are you supposed to remove the tiny little label where it says "Hermès Dry clean only"?

  6. Congratulations on finally finding your treasure! I have an original issue of this design in the burgandy wine CW. How stunning and appropriate it is w the fur colour! I'm very partial to this design alos I think as I live in a country which also has a "Grand North".

  7. Kicki - it is entirely up to you whether you remove the label or not - if you intend to resell on Ebay say, then I'd leave it on or if you take it off then at least keep it safe so that you can prove authenticity. Personally I leave them on unless they are on the corner I want to show most or if they fall off as they sometimes do!

  11. I love La vie du grand nord as well, and I think this is the best colorway to chose for this design ... cold colours like green and blue make it perfect.

  12. Hi, I just stumbled upon your blog and I must say I really like your collection of scarves. I am just beginning to build a collection of my own and I was wondering if you could advise on how one shld store them. Thank you! :)

  13. Hello Runwayvogue - I store my H scarves in their individual boxes - it takes up rather a lot of room though and I need to find a better way LOL! I know some ladies have a scarf drawer and keep their scarves laid out like they do in the H display cabinets. It is personal choice I guess! Thanks for dropping by - hope you enjoy growing your collection :-)

Just found your blog...I too am working on my ever expanding collection of H scarves. I got my first from my mother for my 16th birthday and I have been adding to my addiction ever since.
