Well I am writing to you from 300km above the Arctic Circle from Tromso in Norway.
It is not as cold as you might think! It is grey and raining though with compacted snow and ice on the ground = slippy!! Perhaps that is a good thing for it means I am sitting in my hotel room resting as I am tired not just from travel but a hard year at work as well and my long holiday has been long overdue but it is here now. I nearly abandoned this trip but in the end the slightest possibility of seeing the Northern Lights won me over.
I have a beautiful view across the water to the Arctic Cathedral and this is lit up at night and looks so pretty!

I have not got the facility to put my photos on the blog as I have not got a card reader with me so I found a couple of pics online. When I am home I will of course post some photos.
Hi H, hope you have a great holiday, look forward to hearing all about it. Hope the Northern Lights appear for you, it is supposed to be THE year to see them. X C

DeleteWhat a great opportunity, hope you cope ok with the lack of daylight!
ReplyDeleteHi Bienchen - yes it was fine - I have been to Iceland at a similar time so knew what to expect! SAx
DeleteThere is a pronounced lack of daylight here in Eastern England today so I'm sure you'll manage fine!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful, well-deserved break with no scarf shops (I'm assuming!) to lessen the focus on natural wonders so here's to the ultimate art display you're hoping for - fingers crossed.
Hi PW - quite no H shops and mostly window shopping as you will see from my latest post! SAx
DeleteHow totally magical and romantic . This is one trip I'd love to make one day.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to see the Aurora Borealis , how awesome it must be .
Look forward to hearing all about it .
I imagine that yummy GM is keeping you warm too!
Hi Estrella - can you believe I didn't take any H with me - I was terrified of catching it on the velcro fastners on my winter coat! Better safe than sorry knowing the delicacy of GMs! It was not too cold - 6C although went down to 0C at night. SAx
