A Scarf Change

Anyone who visits Harrods will know that next door to Hermes is Christian Dior.  I wandered over after a H visit and there I found some very pretty scarves....so here is my first foray in the world of Christian Dior scarves:-

 A really lovely box wrapped with ribbon..... 

Inside is a SS12 version of the limited edition Anselm Reyle scarf.  This one is a 70cm x 70cm - one of my favourite sizes.  As soon as I saw this lovely fresh combination of cerise and bluey-purple I had to have it!

This particular scarf is the same price as a Hermes 70cm, but Dior do sell others for slightly less - although the silk is not as heavy as this one is - this AR is comparable to Hermes 70cm for sure.

And my current favourite way to wear a scarf - 

keeps my neck nice and warm!

I enjoyed playing with this scarf and I am really very happy with my first CD scarf and it is not going to be my last......

London Lunch

After the seeing the chocolatier's windows in the previous post, my walk carried on along the road to the Berkeley Hotel, where, after my last delicious lunch at Marcus Wareing's restaurant, I had to go back for more LOL!  This time I took my Mum along for her birthday treat.

Some lovely Easter chocolates in the window of a London Chocolatier.  And in my favourite shades of pink and purple!

Desert Island Scarf

There are not too many scarves pulling me on the SS12 collection (thankfully) but this is one I did like and I had to try a lot before I found a cw I liked.  

Not my usual colour choice as you know!

And again with red.  Quite a versatile scarf.

I think the scarf will look great with lots of colours and for summer a white shirt will be good too.  The orange is a muted orange I think - a bit burnished - it will make a fabulous Autumn scarf too in this cw I have!

Pleated Bow - How To

Rosi asked recently if I could post a "how To" for the pleated bow I have used occasionally (also known as the Robee Knot on TPF)  so I have attempted to do some instructions!  Here goes with help from my Hermes L'Ivresse d'Infini scarf:-

1. Lay your scarf out somewhere flat as you 

will need space to pleat it up.

2. Start to pleat the scarf up into layers - 

I find pleats of about 4-5cm works best.

3. Keep going until the scarf is all pleated......... 

4. .......into one narrow strip........

5. .....like so.

6. Next CAREFULLY pick up the pleated strip

 and place it around your neck. You can see 

it is already opening up by itself!

7. Do a single knot ......

8. .....now you can wear the scarf like this
or carry on.....

9. .....to tie a full Half Ascot Knot (how to here) to give
the frilly bow look.  If you do not have enough
length to make the bow around your neck
or it is too tight ( you need a pretty thin neck to do
this knot - I find it a bit tight)
then I found an alternative:-

10.  If you have a large scarf ring or shawl ring

 (MT Collection) then you can use this to "tie" 

the scarf which leaves a lot more length to play 

with than the Half Ascot Knot and is 

more comfortable.

11. Slide on the ring to one side keeping the 

pleats in place as best you can -  you may 

need to give a little twist so they sit 

correctly for the frills.

12. Put the other side of the scarf through the 

ring as well.  As here you can wear 

the bow at differing lengths 

for a layered effect or.......

13. You can pull the scarf through the ring

 further to even up the length and I 

think this gives a pretty good "copy cat" 

effect of doing a Half Ascot Knot  but this 

is good as it allows for a larger neck.
