Carnival de Venise

I was just in Venice last week for the carnival.  As usual there were lots of wonderful costumes to be seen!  The weather was poor and on the last day there was a minor Aqua Alta and St Mark's Square was part flooded along with some streets!  Here are just a few photos of the 700+ photos I took!

The Island of San Giorgio Maggiore

Some lovely costumes!

This lady was my favourite.  I think she comes every year but this year her partner was not there when I saw her.

The dogs had to join in of course!

And some more lovely colourful costumes!

  2. The pics are beautiful - the carnival in Venice is always amazing. I saw the photos of the hermesque-design shop in Venice on the web which you posted - might you provide more info related to that shop, as I anyhow travel often and my main reason is that I have not been able to snatch some beautiful H designs in their boutiques, therefore I might consider buying a copy, just to feel the experience of certain designs, KWIM? Thanks in advance, Anna

  5. Scarf Addict, your love for Venice is incredible! I'm going next April for a week to remember the old times when I used to live there as a student. Did you wear your Carnaval de Venice scarf? it would have been a wonderful contribution to my blog. Thank you for sharing!

  7. Anna - the scarf shop is called Trevisan there are 2 on St Mark's Square one on either side and one on the Mercerie and another in San Marco but I have no street names and you know how odd Venice addresses are! HTH, SA.

  8. Thanks a lot, dear Scarf Addict! I hope to travel to Venice soon, as weather forecast if finally, finally optimistic and spring-like! I like arriving to Venice, than returning back in the same day, then I keep all memories with me when already back to "real world". Hugs, Anna

  10. There are several things I am looking for and have not been successful so far - e.g. have you anywhere on your travels seen Carre en Carres in twill silk recently? I have not been successful at all and would like to buy it from boutique...sounds impossible...at least as far as I know. Hugs, Anna

  11. Hi Anna, sadly no I have not seen CenC in a boutique recently - I got a twill via a friend from an Hermes sale and I know there were 4 cws avavailble at the sale. It was a very popular design but I believe there may be something along a similar design coming out for AW11. They did a jersey CenC last season.

  14. Thanks for your kind reply. I still hope for CenC in silk twill. At the beginning, my hope was focused on the combination with red, now my criteria dropped and I would accept most cws. Gosh, you got it at sale, unbelievable, but I am happy for you, as I see you do appreciate scarves a lot. Looking forward to for your further posts. Anna
